The new season is upon us once again, and its time to blow the cobwebs off.
Our youth teams continue to grow steadily year upon year, I would like to welcome our new U7s coach Steve Shonk. Also to our new Managers of the Snr teams, John Rowley and Del Longley, who have been working hard with the teams getting them into shape for the season ahead.
I am pleased to welcome all our new players and parents to our 30th Anniversary season supporting the beautiful game - football!
Our Club is a registered non-profit organisation which began in 1981 and is run by volunteer members, managers and coaches. Our mission is to provide an equal opportunity to boys and girls who wish to play well organized football, at both a recreational and competitive level. Our Club's objective is to promote teamwork, fitness and fun!
As we prepare for the 2010/11 season, I want to take a moment to remind everyone that we are all responsible for establishing a good footballing environment for all our children. Committee members, coaches, parents, grandparents and friends - we all need to continue to remind ourselves that the reason we take the time to participate in any sport is for the children - the real STARS of our Club. Players and coaches are thrown together at the beginning of the season - I think you'll agree it takes time to develop a team! We want our volunteer coaches to focus on skill development, teamwork and fun throughout the season! I would like to personally thank our club members, our volunteer coaches and our sponsors - for their dedication and support of this Sedlescombe Rangers Football club.
My usual appeal is for anyone who feels they can help in any way to let me know and we can put your energy (or money) to good use. On team pages of this website are details of how you can contact a manager and sponsor a team.
As we look back over the last year, we can see a lot of change within the club. The ability to cope with this change, demonstrates the strength in depth that we possess. So in asking the question "Just how far do we think we can go this year?" it is also right to look back and see just how far we have come. We have had to work hard, to listen to differences of opinion, to regroup and put our shoulders to the wheel to get things done, but we have come this far, keep up the good work. I believe this club is able to achieve great things and enjoy much success, so good luck to us all in the coming season.
